Content

History

Television company Duna TV appeared in December 1992, its satellite broadcasting began in the same year. The main goal of the channel was broadcasting for Hungarian communities in countries bordering Hungary. A little later, the channel began to broadcast 24 hours a day. Since 2004 has been broadcasting in the Americas and Australia. In 2006, the channel launched Duna World under the name Autonomy TV . In 2010, an application was made for joining the European Broadcasting Union after, for financial reasons, Hungary refused to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest , and Hungarian television did not wish to broadcast the contest [1] [2] . The European Broadcasting Union refuses to enter at the moment Duna TV, because in 2011 Hungarian television announced the continuation of the broadcast of the competition. July 1, 2016 merged with MTV, MR and the Hungarian Telegraph Agency.

Structure and financing

The center of the television station is in Budapest. Studios are in the cities of Romania ( Cluj-Napoca , Targu Mures , Odorheiu Secuiesc ), Slovakia ( Bratislava ), Serbia ( Subotica ), Ukraine ( Uzhgorod ) and other towns. For the most part existed on the collected money from the fee for broadcasting licenses until July 2002. At 80% of the current budget of the television company is formed by the government, the rest - from income from advertising rights.
