Pseudotropheus elongatus (Latin) is a freshwater fish of the cichlid family. Endemic of Lake Malawi , Tanzania [1] . Dwells in slightly alkaline water with a temperature of about 22-25 ° C [2] .

Males can reach a length of 9.5 cm [3] , the maximum length is 17 cm. The color of the body is dark blue [2] . Prefers areas with a rocky bottom. It feeds on algae and other aquatic plants.
