Despite the strong opposition of the enemy anti-aircraft artillery, the Il-2 group of aircraft, where A. A. Rogozhin flew in combat formation, perfectly completed the combat mission. Over 30 enemy aircraft on the ground were destroyed and the fire of 8 anti-aircraft artillery points was suppressed [4] .

July 5, 1943

By July 5, 1943, the enemy had concentrated a large number of tanks and manpower in the area of Dorogobuzhino, Solomino, intending to deliver an unexpected blow to our ground units. A squadron of two units (a group of 8 aircraft) IL-2, in which A. Rogozhin was the second-line leader, was assigned a combat mission - to strike at an accumulation of enemy equipment and manpower in the specified area. Skillfully maneuvering at extremely low altitudes, a group of attack aircraft overcame the enemy’s air defense system and reached the target at exactly the right time. Having dealt an exact blow to the set targets, the group destroyed 15 vehicles, 6 tanks, suppressed the fire of 4 anti-aircraft artillery points, scattered and partially destroyed up to two enemy infantry platoons [4] .

July 13, 1943

True heroism was shown by Comrade. Rogozhin 07/13/1943 during the storming of a cluster of up to 25 tanks on the road from B. Mayachki to Krasnaya Polyana and a cluster of tanks and vehicles up to 300 units located along the ravine B. Mayachki, Pokrovka, Yakovlevo.

During the combat mission, the squadron (group) consisting of 2 IL-2 units was attacked by 7 Me-109 . Despite repeated attacks by enemy fighters, the group continued to carry out an attack on ground targets, while simultaneously conducting a defensive air battle .
As a result of striking, up to 20 vehicles were damaged and destroyed, 10 tanks were scattered and destroyed before the infantry platoon. In a dogfight, 2 Me-109s were shot down. A. A. Rogozhin continued to fight and storm the enemy’s position until he was shot down by enemy fighters. He jumped with a parachute [4] .

August 4, 1943

A. A. Rogozhin in a group of 12 Il-2 aircraft launched a successful assault in the frontline of the enemy airfield Mikoyanovka, where up to 50 enemy aircraft were concentrated, of which 30 were fighter aircraft. As a result of the strike, the IL-2 group destroyed 15 enemy aircraft on the ground [4] .

September 27, 1943

“The entire section of the front is delighted with the work of a group of 12 Il-2 aircraft ...”

The enemy showed strong fire resistance to our advancing troops and delayed the advance of our infantry. At that moment, front commander Marshal of the Soviet Union I.S. Konev from the guidance station ordered a group of attack aircraft to strike at the enemy and allow our infantry to move forward. The IL-2 squadron, led by the regiment commander (first-line leader), launched an assault on enemy tanks, infantry and artillery at the forefront. Big explosions and fires began, tanks were burning, artillery shells exploded. After the bombing, Rogozhin (second-line leader), risking his life at an extremely low altitude (10-15 m), shot at point-blank enemy enemy infantry.
The blow to the German positions was crushing, our infantry went on the attack and began to quickly move forward.

The front commander personally overseeing the progress of the attack attack aircraft, thanked Lieutenant Rogozhin and the whole group, and the leading group of the regiment commander Matikov to submit to the title Hero of the Soviet Union [4] .
