Biography
The eldest daughter of Thomas Stewart (c. 1331–1361), 2nd Earl of Angus , and Margaret Sinclair.
In 1361, after the death of her father, juvenile Margarita Stewart inherited the titles of Count Angus and Baroness Abernathy .
She became the wife of Count Thomas Mara (c. 1330–1374), the 9th Earl of Mara (1332–1374).
In 1374, after the death of Thomas Mara, the county of Mar was inherited by his son-in-law, William Douglas, 1st Earl of Douglas , married to his sister Margaret Mar.
Entered into extramarital affairs with William Douglas (c. 1327-1384), 1st Earl Douglas , who in 1374 received the title of Count Mara . Their illegitimate son is George Douglas (1380-1403), the 1st Earl of Angus (1389-1403).
