About the album
As the frontman of the group Justin Brodrick later admitted, he βhatedβ this album , as it was a kind of expression of the βidentity crisisβ
 | What happened to me at the time when I was at Godflesh was a personality crisis, a crisis of identity. I spent a lot of time making this album, and it seemed like they were remixes of the remix album. <...> It was really damn tiring. I did this album alone, like a hermit, in an appropriate mood. I was just obsessed, and I just lost sight of what Godflesh should be. The end result was something very eclectic and ambitious, which did not at all look like a Godflesh album. Despite certain problems during the recording of the album, the search for a new sound, he received mostly positive feedback from music critics, and was a success among the fans of the group.
