Biography
Vasily Reva was born on August 28, 1919 in the village of Popovka (now the Zenkovsky district of the Poltava region of Ukraine ). After graduating from seven grades of a school and a veterinary college, he worked in the Lokhvitsky District Department. In 1940, Reva was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . Since the beginning of World War II - on its fronts. In the battles he was wounded [1] .
By September 1944, Junior Lieutenant Vasily Reva commanded the T-34 tank of the 1st Tank Battalion of the 3rd Tank Brigade of the 23rd Tank Corps of the 2nd Ukrainian Front . He distinguished himself during the liberation of Romania . On September 12, 1944, the crew of Reva broke into the enemy’s location in the city of Miercurea-Chukului and accepted the battle. When their tank was hit, Reva and his comrades continued to fight hand-to-hand, holding out until the approach of the main forces [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945, for the "exemplary performance of the command missions at the front of the battle against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown at the same time," junior lieutenant Vasily Reva was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal Star ” under number 2605 [1] .
In 1946, with the rank of lieutenant, Rev was transferred to the reserve. He lived and worked first in the Sumy region , then in Sumy . He died on February 19, 1981 [1] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Red Star and a number of medals [1] .
