Club career

Kakitani from 4 years old began to train in the children's team " Cereso Osaki ". In 2006, at the age of 16, he signed his first professional contract with his native club, becoming the youngest player with whom Sereso Osaka had ever signed such a contract. Kakitani played his first match in the J-League on November 26, 2006. He also trained with the youth teams of the English Arsenal and the Italian Inter .

Kakitani enrolled in the e-School of Humanities at Waseda University in 2008.

Kakitani was leased to the Tokushima Vortis Club on June 18, 2009, from which he returned to Sereso Osaka in 2012.

Team Career

Kakitani was named the most valuable player of the 2006 Asian Football Championship among youth under 17 , in which he scored 4 goals and made a significant contribution to winning Japan the champion title.

Kakitani also excelled twice at the 2007 Junior World Championships in South Korea. In a match against the youth team of France, Kakitani scored a spectacular goal from the midline. [6] [7]

Kakitani made his debut as part of the main national team of Japan at the 2013 East Asian Cup . He first played in its composition against the national team of China , having managed in the first game and excelled in the 59th minute. Then he scored twice in a match with the South Korean national team , bringing Japan a 2-1 victory. These 3 goals made Kakitani the top scorer of the Japanese national team at that tournament.
