Biography
Rakhimbay Rakhmatov was born on July 1, 1906 in the village of Shaikhburkhon (now Sogd region of Tajikistan ). After elementary school he worked as a carpenter. In 1939, Rakhmatov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Since the beginning of World War II - on its fronts [1] .
By January 1945, the Red Army guard Rakhimbay Rakhmatov was a machine gunner of the 47th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 15th Guards Rifle Division of the 5th Guards Army of the 1st Ukrainian Front . He distinguished himself during the liberation of Poland . On January 24–25 , 1945, Rakhmatov crossed the Oder River near the city of Oppeln and took an active part in the battles for capturing and holding the bridgehead on its western shore, repelling a large number of enemy counterattacks. In those battles, Rakhmatov was injured, but continued to fight [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 27, 1945, the Red Army soldier Rakhimbay Rakhmatov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal [1] .
After the war, Rakhmatov was demobilized. He lived and worked in Leninabad [1] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree and a number of medals [1] .
