History
When the Khitan in 923 captured the Pingzhou region, they separated from it the Luanzhou region (滦 州). During the Qing Empire, not a single county remained subordinate to the region. After the Xinhai Revolution , a reform of the administrative structure was carried out in China, during which the provinces were abolished, and in 1913, the province of Luanzhou was transformed into Luanxiang County (滦 县).
In 1949, the Tangshan Special District (唐山 专区) was formed, and the county became part of it. In 1954, Luannan County was annexed to Luansian County, but in 1963 it was re-allocated. In 1968, the Tangshan Special District was renamed the Tangshan District (唐山 地区). In 1983, by the decision of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, the city of Tangshan and Tangshan County were disbanded, and Luansian County entered the newly created Tangshan City District.
In September 2018, Luanxian County was transformed into Luanzhou City County.
