The Oncology Research Institute of the Tomsk National Research Medical Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences is one of the institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Tomsk (earlier, until 2014, it was an institute of the Tomsk Scientific Center of the Siberian Branch of the Academy of Medical Sciences ).

History
It was opened on June 9, 1979 as the Siberian branch of the All-Union Oncology Center of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR (SB VONTS). The opening ceremony of the institute was attended by leaders of the Tomsk region, headed by E. K. Ligachev , leading scientists of the country and region, academicians of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences: N. N. Blokhin , N. N. Trapeznikov , BC Savelyev , D. D. Yablokov , O. M. Shchepin, professors: M. A. Medvedev, R. S. Karpov, E. D. Goldberg, N. N. Gerasimenko, N. V. Vasiliev .
A.I. Potapov was appointed Director of SB VONTS, and N.V. Vasiliev , Deputy Director for Research. Researchers from the Tomsk Medical Institute were invited to work ( N.V. Vasiliev , B.N. Zyryanov , Z. D. Kitsmanyuk , Yu. V. Lantsman, S. A. Velichko, E. S. Smolyaninov, V. I. Tikhonov et al.) And the Tomsk Institute of Vaccines and Serums (V.D. Podoplekin), specialists from Alma-Ata (L.I. Musabaeva, N.V. Lyap), Moscow (V.P. Korolchuk, AT Adamyan, B . S. Sumy), Leningrad (K.V. Yaremenko, I. Ya. Tsukerman, V.P. Nazarenko, E.L. Neishtadt), Novokuznetsk (V.G. Pashinsky, V.A. Tselishchev, E. A . Hubert).
The goal of creating SB SBSC was to promote the development of scientific research in the field of oncology and to provide assistance to patients with cancer.
With the organization in 1986 of the Tomsk Scientific Center of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the SBRC, it was transformed into an independent institute - the Research Institute of Oncology, TNC. Professor B.N. Zyryanov was appointed director of the institute.

At different times, the academicians of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences N. V. Vershinin , A. G. Savinykh , I. V. Toroptsev , D. D. Yablokov , S. P. Karpov , G. Ts. Dambaev , E. L. Choynzonov worked at the Institute. .
With the merger of the RAMS and the RAS in 2014 and the cancellation of the SSC RAMS in connection with this, the institute was re-subordinated to the FANO . Based on the order of the FANO dated January 20, 2016 No. 22 “On the reorganization of the Tomsk Scientific Research Institute of Oncology Federal Budget Scientific Institution”, on March 31, 2016, the Tomsk Scientific Research Institute of Oncology was reorganized in the form of joining the Scientific Research Institute of Cardiology , the Scientific Research Institute of Pharmacology and Regenerative Medicine , Scientific Research Institute of Medical Genetics , Scientific Research Institute of Mental Health , Scientific Research Institute of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology at the Federal Scientific Center TNIMC RAS [1] , which began functioning in the spring of 2017. The headquarters of the TNIMC RAS is located in the administrative building of the Research Institute of Oncology (Tomsk, 5 Kooperativny lane). Director of the Research Institute of Oncology, MD, professor, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences E. L. Choynzonov also became the head of the TNIMC RAS and from October 2017 became a member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences .
Structure
The Institute has 4 scientific laboratories and 11 departments, united in the experimental, diagnostic and clinical departments, the service of scientific and medical information. The staff is 500 people, of which 86 are scientists, including 30 doctors and 66 candidates of sciences, 48 doctors. There is a clinic for 220 beds and an outpatient department with a capacity of 50 visits per shift, the staff of doctors is 322 people, 40 employees have the highest medical category.
The Institute has a residency, specialties in oncology, radiology and radiology, and postgraduate studies in the specialties of oncology, radiation diagnostics and radiation therapy. There is a dissertation council for the defense of doctoral and master's theses in the specialty of oncology (medical sciences).
The Institute publishes the Siberian Oncology Journal [2] .
