Beagle, Peter

Peter Beagle ( born Peter S. Beagle ; born April 20, 1939 , New York ) is an American writer famous for his novel The Last Unicorn . Also known as the screenwriter of the animated film The Lord of the Rings of 1978 .

Biography

On the maternal side, Beagle is from a Jewish family who moved to the United States in 1912 from the city of Borisoglebsk (now Voronezh Region ). His mother's brothers are artists Isaac , Moses and Rafael Sawyer.

Beagle grew up in New York and won a poetry contest while still a schoolboy. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in literary work.
