A tenacious pyramidal is a perennial herb with a vertical rhizome . The stems are four-ribbed, glabrous or hairy-pubescent, reaching 7-30 cm in height. Basal leaves 40-110 × 15-45 (average 60 × 28) mm, obovate, with a solid or blunt edge, even the first ones do not fade for a long time. Stolons do not develop.
The inflorescence is dense, whorls of 4-8 flowers. Bracts are ovate, with a whole or serrated edge, bluish or red-violet, occasionally green. The calyx is actinomorphic, about 9 mm long. Corolla up to 27 mm long, pale bluish-lilac, with a tube 1.5 times the cup length. The upper lip of the corolla is one-piece. Stamens bare, with dark purple anthers.
Fruits are nuts of oblong-obovate shape, 2-2.5 × 1.3-1.6 mm, yellowish-brown, with a shiny mesh surface.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 32. [2]
The natural habitat of the pyramidal survivability is subalpine meadows and pastures, deciduous forests. Widely distributed in Europe , grows at an altitude of 300-2700 m above sea level.
Pyramidal tenacious, along with creeping tenacious, is often used in gardening for decorative coloring of leaves as a groundcover perennial. The leaves of the variety 'Metallica Crispa' are bronze-purple, shiny.
The pyramidal survivor was first truly described by the famous Swedish naturalist, founder of the modern botanical nomenclature, Karl Linnaeus, in the book Species plantarum in 1753.
