The first solo exhibition of the sculptor took place in 1977. At the Dulevo Porcelain Factory , his work was carried out in terms of decorative and monumental art: large-sized vases, fountains. Sotnikov was the author of numerous forms of decorative and utilitarian products, animalistic and genre table sculptures. Together with the teacher V.E. Tatlin Sotnikov implemented a new concept of shaping: from material, and more broadly - from nature - to form. This principle has been the basis of the sculptor's work at the Dulevo Porcelain Factory for many years. In 1978, Alexei Sotnikov was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR [3] . He died on February 18, 1989 in Moscow. He was buried on February 23, 1989 at Mitinsky cemetery .

The works of A.G. Sotnikov are presented in many museum collections, such as the State Tretyakov Gallery , which collected a monographic collection of sculpture works in the 1980s directly in his workshop, the State Russian Museum , the State Museum of Ceramics " Kuskovo Estate ", Sumy Art Museum ( Ukraine ), museums of Riga ( Latvia ), Veliky Novgorod , Bryansk and others [3] .

In May 2018, the heiress of the sculptor Aleksey Sotnikov signed an agreement with the Association of copyright holders for the protection and management of copyright in the field of art UPRAVIS [4] on the transfer of authority to manage exclusive rights and an agreement on the management of the right to follow.
