Miroslav Barnyashev (born December 25, 1985 ) is a Bulgarian wrestler , a former powerlifter and rower . Currently performs in the American pro-wrestling federation WWE under the name Rusev ( Eng. Rusev ) [1] [3] . The first Bulgarian to perform at WWE [2] .

Early life and athlete career
Barnyashev was born in Plovdiv , Bulgaria [3] . He visited the Children's and Youth Sports School , doing powerlifting and kayaking [3] .
Career in Professional Wrestling
Early career
In the mid-2000s, Barnyashev emigrated from Bulgaria to the United States with the intentions of becoming a reseller . He originally lived in Virginia [3] , before moving to Torrance , California , where he began training as a wrestler with David Heath and Rikishi at the Knokx Pro Wrestling Academy [2] [3] [5] . Miroslav debuted on November 22, 2008 under the ring name Miroslav Makarov. [6]
In 2010, he fought in Vendetta Pro Wrestling under the name Miroslav. While he was fighting in VPW, his jack was Marcus Mack [7] . He and several other wrestlers from VPW got into the video for the song The Whole F'n Show (the song of the famous wrestler Rob Van Dam ) [8] .
World Wrestling Entertainment
Florida Championship Wrestling (2010—2013)
In September 2010, Barnyashev signed a contract with WWE [2] . Soon he appeared in the Florida Wrestling Championship (FCW) under the name of Alexander Rusev [5] . His first televised battle took place on July 17, 2011 at FCW, where he defeated Mike Dalton . His jack was Raquel Diaz [9] [10] . However, after some time, Rusev left FCW due to an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus for six months [3] .
Rusev returned in March 2012 with Jack Jack Rogers [11] . In the summer of 2012, Alexander suffered a neck fracture, due to which his arm was temporarily paralyzed [3] . During recovery, he traveled to Thailand , where he studied Thai boxing [3] . In August 2012, WWE renamed FCW to WWE NXT . [12]
Champion of the United States WWE (2014–2015)
In April 2014, Rusev started a feud with R-Truth and Xavier Woods, whom he defeated in an extreme rules handicap match on May 4, 2014 [13] [14] . Lana dedicated his match to her “hero”, Russian President Vladimir Putin , and announced that Rusev had moved to Russia [15] [16] [17] . At that moment, the wrestler reduced his ring name to a simple Rusev. Rusev subsequently became a pro-Russian and anti-American gimmick, which leads him to clashes with patriotic fighters like Jim Duggan . [18]
On October 31, at the SmackDown show, Rusev and Lana explained that their goal would be US champion Seymus. On November 3, in the RAW show, after the main show, which was available to WWE Network subscribers, Rusev fought with Seymus for the US title and became the new US champion. Thus, Rusev received his first title in the company and became the first Bulgarian in the world to receive it [19] . November 10 joined the leadership team for the match at the Survivor Series. At the Survivor Series, Rusev flew off the countdown, breaking a commentary table. On the next SmackDown! Daniel Brian as SmackDown CEO! announced that Rusev will defend his US title in the Royal Battle of 30 wrestlers, in which Rusev won. At the PPV Royal Battle (2015) Rusev came out at number 15, but could not win, having flown out of the ring last. On the show after the Royal Battle (2015), Rene Young interviewed John Cena , but Rusev unexpectedly interrupted. After which a fight broke out between them. On the next RAW, a match was scheduled for PPV Fast Lane between them. At WWE Fastlane (2015), Rusev defeated John Cena after the Accolade. For the first time in 10 years, Sina lost the match after a painful capture. At WrestleMania, 31 Rusev lost the title to John Cena. At Extreme Rules (2015) , a rematch will take place between John Sina and Rusev in a match with a steel Russian chain. The match ended in the defeat of Rusev due to a number of many technical errors. Lana turned to the management for a 4 match with John Cena of the type of "I surrender." In the match “I Surrender,” John Cena also won. On the first Raw after Payback, Rusev demanded another match right now, since he did not declare the change, but Lana. There was no answer, but instead Lana came out, and Rusev, angry at her, drove her away, declaring himself Bulgarian again.
Love triangle (feud with Dolph Ziggler) (2015).
On April 12, at RAW, Lana went into a match with Dolph Ziggler and, embarrassed, went into the ring and kissed Ziggler, then an angry Rusev ran into the ring and tried to speak with Lana, but she slapped him. On the April 19 RAW, Rusev challenged Lana into the ring, and she left. Rusev wanted to apologize, but Lana refused him. After the match with Dolph Ziggler, Rusev entered the RAW on April 26 and attacked him. At the Elimination Chamber (2015) in a match against Rybek, he received an ankle injury and had to walk on crutches. On June 3, RAEV went to RAW for a match by Dolph Ziggler against Sheimus and again tried to negotiate with Lana, but she again refused him. On June 17 at RAW, Rusev saw again that Lana was kissing Ziggler and fell off her crutches with rage, but then Summer Rey came up to him and helped him up. At SmackDown on June 25, Summer Rey again approached Rusev with the words "Lana is not worth it." On RAW on June 31, Lana read out a promo about her and Ziggler, but Rusev with Summer Rey entered the ring and said that he did not like Lana all this time, and then Summer Rey gave Lana a slap in the face and they clung, but they were taken away by boyfriends. On July 6, at the RAW, Rusev again entered the ring (along with Summer Rey) and broke Ziggler’s neck with a crutch. On SmackDown on July 14, Rusev defeated Fandango. On RAW on July 20, Rusev lost to John Cena, Cesaro and Randy Orton after the betrayal of Seymus and Kevin Owens. On SmackDown on August 13, Rusev lost to Roman Raines. On RAW on August 19, Rusev defeated Mark Henry. After the match, Lana entered the ring, attacked Summer Rey and called Rusev into the ring, and then Dolph Ziggler ran into the ring and attacked Rusev. At SummerSlam (2015), the match between Rusev and Dolph Ziggler ended in double disqualification. At Night of Champions (2015), Dolph Ziggler defeated Rusev. On October 11, 2015 , TMZ magazine announced that Rusev made an offer to Lana (and she agreed). Thus, the feud ended.
The League of Nations (2015—2016).
Since November 30, 2015, Rusev has been a member of the League of Nations, a group of non-American wrestlers, led by Sheimus . He defeated Raibek at TLC (2015 ). He was the first to be beaten at the Royal Battle at Royal Rumble (2016) , but later avenged with the League of Nations on Roman Raines. On April 27, the group was dissolved.
United States Champion WWE (2016)
On RAW of May 2, he won the royal battle, having thrown Zak Ryder out last and became the first contender for the US Champion title held by Calisto . At Extreme Rules he had a match with Calisto for the US title and won the title. After that, Calisto received a rematch for the US title. At SmackDown, Rusev defended his US title against Calisto. On May 30, at the RAW show, Rusev defeated Zach Ryder . On June 2, Rusev defeated Jack Svager and after the match attacked him. But Titus Onil rushed to the rescue. At the next RAW, Rusev defeated Jack Svager in the report. At the Main Event, Rusev defeated Sin Kara. On June 16 at Smekdown Down Rusev defeated Calisto. At the PPV Money in the Bank of 2016, Rusev defeated Titus Onil and defended the US title. On the next RAW, Titus Onil had a fight with Rusev. On America's Day on Row, Rusev defended his US title from Titus. Then a match was scheduled for BattleGround 2016 for the US championship between Rusev and Zach Ryder. In the draft, Rusev was chosen for the red brand. On BattleGround Rusev himself defended the title of US champion. After the match, he attacked Zach, but Mojo Rowley came to the rescue and Rusev left the ring.
At the next RAW, they introduced the new main title of the red brand. Rusev participated in a four-way match for the claim. His rivals were Cesaro, Finn Ballor and Kevin Owens. Finn Ballor restrained Rusev and won. On August 1, RAW was attacked by Roman Raines . At the next RAW, the wedding ceremony of Rusev and Lana was held, at which Roman Raines pushed him to Lana during a fight with Rusev, and she landed her face on the cake. After that, RAW general manager Mick Foley appointed a match between Rusev and Roman Raines for the USA Champion title at SummerSlam.
The fight at Summerslam 2016 was canceled due to a fight between Rusev and Raines before entering the ring.
At the first Raw PPV Clash of Champions 2016, this match was held again and Roman gained the upper hand, becoming the new US champion.
On Raw 09/26/2016 the next Clash of Champions rematch against Raines ended with a double count of both after they transferred their fight to the auditorium. The title remained with Raines.
At Hell In A Cell 2016, Rusev again tried to regain the US championship in the Hell In A Cell match, but Raines was again stronger.
Personal life
Since May 2014, he has been in a relationship with Lana , his jack [20] . On October 11, 2015, he proposed to her. On August 6, 2016, the wedding of Rusev and Lana was held.
