Story
A wealthy Englishman, Lord Evandale, discovers a remarkably preserved woman's mummy in the necropolis of Thebes . The Lord is so astounded that a vision descends on him about the romantic history of the beautiful Egyptian woman.
He sees himself in the image of the poet Poery, obsessed with a passion for his lover. The woman's name is Taozer, and the rumor about her as a great beauty reaches Pharaoh himself. Pharaoh is fascinated by Taozer, and wants to leave her at his court.
But the captive escapes to return to Poery, without whose love she cannot live. Meanwhile, Moses , the leader of the Jews, reveals to Pharaoh the secret of Taozer's flight in exchange for freedom for his people.
Unhappy Taozer is again in the grip of a cruel ruler. Meanwhile, Pharaoh, having repented of the word given to Moses, sets off in pursuit of the Jews and perishes in this campaign.
Taoser, received from the Pharaoh a golden lotus - a symbol of royal power, becomes the queen of Egypt. But she cannot forget the poet Poery, so Taozer dies of despair, unable to withstand separation from her beloved.
Here the vision is scattered, and Lord Evandeil, unable to survive the separation from his fictional lover, decides to commit suicide. He puts a revolver to his temple, but at this moment, an old friend of his family, Lord Glover, comes in, accompanied by his daughter Ellen, a living embodiment of the Egyptian Taozer.
Surprised and charmed, Lord Evandale forgets about the chimera in order to marry the one who realizes his dreams.
