Biography
Anatoly Vedernikov was born on May 3, 1920 in the family of the head of the stationery department of the store. He studied piano at the age of 6. In 1930, he began his performing career. He performed with tours in China and Japan, then returned to Russia. Since 1936 he studied at the Moscow Conservatory (class G. G. Neigauza ). In 1942 he became a soloist of the Moskontsert [3] . In the late 1930s, Vedernikov's parents became victims of Stalinist repressions : his father was shot and his mother sentenced to 8 years [4] .
During the Great Patriotic War, Vedernikov married Olga Gekker, daughter of the famous philosopher Julius Gekker . The son of Anatoly and Olga Julius Vedernikov became an artist [5] .
Vedernikov was a friend of S. T. Richter , in the 1940-1950s they had several joint performances. Vedernikov performed the piano works of many contemporary composers. He became the first Russian performer of the Fourth Concerto for Piano and Orchestra by S. S. Prokofiev [4] . Vedernikov collaborated with D. D. Shostakovich , for the first time he performed his 1st and 24th preludes and fugues [3] . Among other works, first performed by Vedernikov: 1st concert of Galynin, 1st sonatel of Sidelnikov, 2nd sonata of Ustvolskaya, sonatina Frida, variations on the theme of Bach Razorenov [6] , Lento-variations of Karetnikov . He was the first in the USSR to perform a number of foreign piano works, among which were Stravinsky's Movements, Hindemith's Ludus tonalis, a piano concert with Schoenberg’s orchestra, 3rd piano concert with Vladigerov’s orchestra, 6 plays of Kshenek [6] . From 1963 he performed with tours in socialist countries, in 1980 he performed in Italy and Scotland, then in Finland and Germany [4] .
In 1958, Vedernikov became a teacher at the Gnesins Music and Pedagogical Institute (from 1963 associate professor). Since 1980, he taught at the Moscow Conservatory (since 1985 professor). In 1983, Vedernikov received the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR [4] .
Anatoly Vedernikov lived in Moscow at the address: Raskovoi street , 3 [3] . He died on July 29, 1993 in his house in the village of Klyazma near Moscow after a long illness [7] .
