Death

Suddenly died while playing tennis on December 18, 2004 . He was buried in Ufa at the Southern cemetery .

At the head of the association [1]

At that time, when V.P. Lesunov became the general director of UMPO, - at the end of July 1998 - the company's debts to the staff team on wages amounted to 8 months. The new director and his team first began to reduce costs. Energy costs per ruble of production were reduced by almost 4 times - from 23 to 6 kopecks. Material consumption has significantly decreased. Over the last five months of 1998, direct production costs decreased by 98 million rubles, which amounted to approximately 10% of the cost of production.

The work on obtaining the maximum number of orders by the enterprise was sharply intensified; V.P. Lesunov introduced a new position in the management structure of UMPO - Deputy General Director for Marketing . Soon, this activity began to produce results: if in the first 7 months of 1998 products were produced for 434 million rubles, then for the remaining 5 months - for 887 million.

The basis of the production plan of the enterprise remained the production of engines for combat aircraft. The association continued to produce several modifications of the AL-31F for the fourth-generation fighter Su-27 , R-195 and R-95Sh engines for the Su-25 attack aircraft , transmissions and units for the Ka-27 , Ka-28, Ka-32 and Mi-26 helicopters . In cooperation with Zaporizhzhya Motor Sich OJSC, production of D-436 T1 engines for the short-range passenger aircraft Tu-334 and D-436TP for the Be-200 multipurpose amphibious aircraft was mastered.

A significant event for the enterprise was the signing in 2000 of a contract with India for the sale of a license for the production of a two-seat multipurpose heavy fighter Su-30 MKI and an AL-31FP engine with a rotary nozzle (the production of this engine in Russia was mastered only at UMPO). Work under the contract was planned for a seven-year period.

Along with a wide range of products for aircraft and helicopter manufacturing enterprises, UMPO has launched a great deal of production of civilian products, from the Agros universal motoblock to the engine for a heavy transport snowmobile , the production of which was commissioned by Gazprom . The production of AL-31ST , a stationary drive of gas pumping stations with a capacity of 16 MW, was organized; deliveries for Gazprom began in 2000. On the basis of AL-31ST, the association began to produce a gas turbine drive for power plants AL-31STE with a capacity of 18 MW.

Salary arrears at the enterprise were completely liquidated by May 1999. The measures carried out under the guidance of V.P. Lesunov allowed UMPO to increase the volume of output by 20-25% per year. As a result, the annual turnover of the association reached 13 billion rubles (2004), approximately 90% of the output was produced for export . UMPO in these years has repeatedly become the best exporting company in the country.

The association continued the development of new technology. Preparations were underway for the production of the AL-55 multifunctional thrust engine, designed for installation on educational and light military aircraft. Together with NPO Saturn, work was carried out to create an intermediate generation engine 4 ++. By decree of the Government of Russia, UMPO was involved in the development and production of a new fifth generation engine. [ten]

“We“ divided ”the engine into two halves, and Lastochkin in Rybinsk took care of one half, and Lesunov in Ufa took the other half ... Rybinsk took on himself a low-pressure compressor, a low-pressure turbine , an external circuit and assembly. And Ufa reserves a high-pressure compressor, a combustion chamber , a high-pressure turbine, an afterburner and a nozzle . Thus, we assembled several engines, tested and received brilliant performance. The fifth generation engine was there. ”

- V.M. Chepkin , general designer. [eleven]

Scientific and pedagogical activity

The candidate of economic sciences, associate professor V.P. Lesunov has been teaching for several years at the Ufa State Aviation Technical University (part-time). Valery Pavlovich Lesunov was the head of the branch of the Department of Engineering Technology , a member of the Academic Council of USATU.

Associate Professor V.P. Lesunov directly participated in the study and application of ion-implantation modification of the surface of materials of compressor blades and turbines in order to increase their resource and reliability . Under the guidance of V.P. Lesunov, the technology of ion implantation on the blades of gas turbine engines was introduced at UMPO.
