Cumberland County is located in the United States , Virginia . As of 2010 , the population was 10,052 people. It was founded in 1749 , got its name in honor of the Duke William of Cumberland .

According to the United States Census Bureau , the county’s total area is 777 km ², of which 769 km ² are land and 6 km ² or 0.8% are water bodies.

Demographics
According to the 2000 census [1] , 9,017 residents of the 3,528 households and 2,487 families live in the okrug. The population density is 12 people per km ². There are 4,085 residential buildings in the district, with a building density of 5 buildings per km ². Racial composition of the population: white - 60.37%, African - Americans - 37.44%, Native Americans ( Indians ) - 0.18%, Asians - 0.35%, representatives of other races - 0.59%, representatives of two or more races - 1.06%. Hispanics made up 1.66% of the population, regardless of race .
Out of the total number of households , 30.00% are children under the age of 18 years, 51.60% of households are married couples living together, 14.30% of households are single women without a spouse, 29.50% of households households are not related to families , 24.80% of households consist of one person, 10.70% of households consist of elderly people (65 years and older) living alone. The average household size is 2.55 people and the average family size is 3.03 people.
The age structure of the district: 24.70% under the age of 18, 7.30% from 18 to 24, 28.00% from 25 to 44, 25.10% from 45 to 64, and 14.80% from 65 and older. The average age of a resident of the district is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 91.00 males . For every 100 females over 18 years of age, 88.20 are males .
The average household income in the district was 31 816 USD , per family - 37 965 USD . The average male earnings were $ 28,846 versus $ 22,521 for a woman . The per capita income was $ 15,103.
