Julia Vladimir Borzova ( January 14, 1981 , Yangi-Khaet ) - the Uzbek kayaker , canoeist , played for the national team of Uzbekistan in the period 2001-2012. Biography

Julia Borzova was born on January 14, 1981 in the village of Yangi-Khaet, Tashkent region . She began to actively engage in rowing at the age of eight; she was trained under the guidance of coaches T. Mamatkulova and A. Shubin. The first serious success was achieved in 2001, when she first got into the main team of the national team of Uzbekistan and visited the World Championships in Poznan, Poland, where she took sixth place among single kayaks by 200 meters and ninth among doubles by 1000 meters. A year later, she made her World Cup debut, and then won the gold and silver medals at the Asian Games in Busan, at a half-kilometer distance with four and a lone respectively. She also spoke at the World Championships in Seville, participated immediately in three disciplines, but could not be among the winners in any of the disciplines. A year later, at the world championship in American Gainesville, she fought for medals with a four-seater crew at a two-hundred-meter distance, made it to the finals, but was only eighth in the decisive race.

Thanks to a series of successful performances, she won the right to defend the honor of the country at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens , participated in the individual race of 500 meters, but managed to reach only the semi-final stage. After the Olympics, she remained in the main team of the Uzbek national team and continued to go to major international competitions. So, in 2005, she won several medals at the Asian Championships in the Malaysian city of Putrajaya, including one gold, four silver and two bronze. The following season, she became the champion of the Asian Games in Doha, defeating all rivals in the single player program at half a kilometer distance. In addition, she performed at the World Championships in Szeged, Hungary, was close to medals in the 200-meter singles race, however, she ultimately reached the fourth finish.

Then came a three-year break in his career, in 2009 Borzova returned to sports and won five medals at the Asian Championships in Tehran: two gold, two silver and one bronze. At the Asian Games in Guangzhou she climbed to the second step of the podium in the K-4 500 m program, later she attended the World Championships in Szeged and another Asian Championships in Tehran, where she replenished the medal collection with three bronze awards and one silver. According to the results of the World Cup stages, it is located in the overall classification of the best kayakers on the twenty-second line. Having confirmed leadership, in 2012 she passed the selection for the Olympic Games in London , represented the country at once in two disciplines, in the individual standings at 200 and 500 meters - in both cases she reached the semi-finals, taking twenty-fourth and twenty-first places, respectively [1] .

Soon after the Olympic competitions, Julia Borzova decided to end the career of a professional athlete, losing her place in the national team to young Uzbek rowers. Now lives in Tashkent . She has higher education, in 2004 she graduated from the Uzbek State Institute of Physical Culture, where she studied at the Department of Swimming and Rowing. Her brother Sergey Borzov was also a rather famous rower, he was repeatedly selected for the national team and represented the country at various prestigious competitions.
