Biography
Nikolay Polagushin was born on March 7, 1923 in Tashkent . He graduated from junior high school. In June 1941, Polagushin was called up to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1942 he graduated from the Chkalov military aviation school of pilots. Since September of the same year - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. In battles he was wounded three times [1] .
By February 1945, Captain Nikolai Polagushin , the Guard, commanded a squadron of the 15th Guards Assault Aviation Regiment of the 277th Assault Aviation Division of the 1st Air Army of the 3rd Belorussian Front . By that time, he had made 214 combat missions to attack the clusters of military equipment and enemy manpower, causing enormous losses [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 19, 1945, guard Captain Nikolai Polagushin was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 6120 [1] .
After the end of the war, Polagushin continued his service in the Soviet Army. In 1949 he graduated from the Higher Flight Tactical Courses, in 1955 - the Air Force Academy. In 1958, in the rank of Colonel Polagushin was dismissed. He lived and worked first in Moscow , then in Zelenograd . Actively engaged in social activities. He died on February 2, 1999, was buried at the Zelenograd cemetery of Moscow [1] .
Awards
He was also awarded four orders of the Red Banner , orders of Alexander Nevsky , World War 1 and 2 degrees, the Red Star , a number of medals [1] .
Memory
A street in Zelenograd was named after Polagushin [1] .
