History

The village of Knyazhevo was formed in the middle of the XVII century [3] , on the local lands of Prince Semyon Andreevich Urusov - a representative of the princely family of Tatar origin, who for their faithful service, Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich received them in the Nizhny Novgorod region, including the Volga region. By the middle of the 18th century, the name “Knyazhevo” was established outside the village. This name, according to legend, comes from the word “princess”, since “some princess” owned the village.

After the death of Semyon Andreevich Urusov, in 1657 his wife, Princess Feodosia Borisovna Lykova, inherited his lands, including the village of Knyazhevo. In 1692, it was a rather large village at that time with 20 courtyards and 57 males. The population was engaged in agriculture, boot and groovy, forging and locksmithing, and those who had horses were driven. Some of the inhabitants worked at the Gruzdev boot-making factories in the villages of Kobelevo, Anisimova and Dubinina.

In 1910, there were 52 yards in the village of Knyazhevo.

A collective farm called “Victory” in the village of Knyazhevo was organized in 1931, and the collective farm received grain crops of 10-12 kg / ha , potatoes of 150-160 kg / ha and vegetables of 180-220 kg / ha .

In 1939 there were 64 houses in the village of Knyazhevo.

When the Great Patriotic War began, 52 men were mobilized, and all the burden of the work fell on the shoulders of women, the elderly and adolescents. Only 20 soldiers returned from the front.

In 1956, the village was electrified. Since 1962, the village of Knyazhevo has been part of the Koltsovo brigade of the Borsky state farm. In the 1960s, the population of the village was particularly reduced, as many, especially young ones, left for the cities.
