Geography
The village is located in the south-eastern part of the Tersky district , on the right bank of the Kurp River. It is located 20 km east of the Terek district center and 77 km from the city of Nalchik . To the east of the village passes the administrative border between Kabardino-Balkaria and North Ossetia .
The area of the rural settlement is 44.45 km 2 . The main part of the area is occupied by agricultural land.
It borders on lands of settlements: Upper Kurp in the south, Upper Akbash and Zavodskoye in the west, Nizhny Kurp in the northeast, as well as Khurikau and Kusovo villages of North Ossetia in the east.
The settlement is located on an inclined Kabardian plain near the northern spur of the Kabardino-Sunzhensky ridge , in the foothill zone of the republic. The average height in the village is 345 meters above sea level. The terrain is heterogeneous: to the west of the village the foothill sloping plains stretch, and from the south, east and north it is surrounded by the Kabardino-Sunzha and Terek ranges. To the east of the village is located one of the highest points of the Terek district - Mount Arik-Paptsa .
To the east of the village is Verkhne-Kurpsky State Reserve. As well as tracts - Kochinaf, Guchisoko, Boshtuko, Foko-Tleg and others. At the southeastern outskirts of the village there is a plateau-like elevation - Oshkhatikh (cabard -cherk. Iuschhytykh ).
The hydrographic network is represented mainly by the Kurp and Kurpug (Dry Kurp) rivers, which merge at the eastern end of the village. The terrain is rich in spring water outlets in low beams.
The climate is humid temperate with warm summers and cool winters. The average annual air temperature is about + 10.0 ° С, and ranges from average + 22.0 ° С in July, to average −3.0 ° С in January. Minimum temperatures in winter are rarely released below -10 ° C; in summer, maximum temperatures reach + 35 ° C. The average annual rainfall is about 670 mm. Most of the precipitation falls between April and June. The main winds are northwest. Despite the relatively small heights of the surrounding ridges, they detain dry winds , often blowing from the territory of the Caspian lowland at the end of summer.
History
The first mentions of the villages of Inarokovy are found in Russian archival documents of the 17th century . At the beginning of the 19th century, because of the punitive expeditions of the Russian troops to Malaya Kabarda, the villages of Inarokovy retreated to the northern spurs of the Kabardino-Sunzhensky range.
After the end of the Caucasian War , the remaining villages of the Inarokovs were united into one settlement. However, in the course of Muhajirism, the population of the united aul sharply decreased.
In 1920 , with the final establishment of Soviet power in Kabarda, by the decision of the Revolutionary Committee of the Nalchik District, Inarokovo, like all other Kabardian settlements, was renamed due to the presence of princely and noble families in their names. As a result, the village received a new name - Kurp.
During World War II , at the end of November 1942, the village was occupied by German troops. In December of the same year, one of the bloodiest battles on the territory of the KBR - the Battle for Kurpsky Heights - took place northeast of the village. In the course of this battle, the offensive of the German troops was halted, and a large-scale liberation of the territory of the KSAR was started from fascist invaders [3] . In memory of those killed in the battles during the liberation of the village and villagers who died on the war fronts, monuments were erected in the village. The Battle of Kurpsky Heights is dedicated to several exhibitions in various military-historical museums of the country.
In 1993, at the request of local residents, the village returned its historic name - Inarkoy.
Nowadays, Inarkoy has practically merged with the village of Upper Kurp lying above, and in fact constitute one settlement.
