Biography
Born in 1877 [1] in with. Antoshino Kashinsky district of the Tver province.
He studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1896-1908) with A. Stepanov and V. Serov , and later was a teacher there.
He performed at traveling exhibitions from 1904 to 1911 (member of the Partnership since 1905 ).
In 1908 he received the title of class artist. Pensioner of the school in 1910-1911. He lived and worked in Moscow.
He died in Moscow in 1912 . He was buried in the Miussky cemetery .
A posthumous exhibition of the works of S. G. Nikiforov was arranged by O. N. Natalina (the artistβs wife) [2] in 1913 - 302 of his works were presented.
In 1904, Nikiforov lived in the estate of his wife in the village of Sazhenevo, located near Ryazan .

At the international exhibition in Rome, his painting βIn the Sunβ made a great impression, and the Italian government acquired it for the National Gallery in Rome, which few foreign artists have been honored with. [3]
Nikiforov's works are in museums in Russia. His painting "Kitchen" was acquired in 1907 from the 34th traveling exhibition in the Museum of the Academy of Arts. In the Tretyakov Gallery are his paintings "In the Barn" (1907) and "Arrived" (1907).
An extensive collection of paintings and drawings by Nikiforov, stored in the State Art Museum. I.P. Pozhalostina, arrived in 1927 from the artist's studio and is about 150 exhibits . In 1972, the museum hosted an anniversary exhibition of Nikiforov's works, which presented the artistβs works from various museum collections of the country. [four]
