Dromos

Dromos of the Temple of Karnak with sculptures

Dromos (from the Greek. Δρόμος - “path, passage”) - the path or corridor leading to the burial chamber of the tomb or mound . Sometimes it is a horizontal or inclined passage to the crypt, carved into the rock. It can also be equipped with steps.

The oldest Dromos are known in Egyptian ( Temple of Karnak , Luxor ), Aegean ( Tomb of Atreus in Mycenae ), Etruscan tombs [1] . In the Northern Black Sea region, the dromos were widespread from the 4th century BC. e. until III — IV century AD e. ( Tsarsky Kurgan and Melek-Chesmensky Kurgan in Kerch [2] [3] ).
