Rostom Omarovich Abashidze ( Georgian როსტომ ომერის ძე აბაშიძე ; born , ) - Georgian classic style wrestler , three-time USSR champion, three-time world champion, winner of many international tournaments, Honored Master of Sports of the USSR (1962).

Biography
Born February 23, 1935 in Batumi . He swam well, then achieved success in football . But in 1950, he began to engage in classical wrestling under the guidance of coaches Akaki Maminoshvili and George Rostiashvili .
He performed in the light heavyweight category (up to 97 kg). In 1954 he fulfilled the standard of the USSR master of sports . He played at the championships of the USSR from 1954 to 1963 . He won the national championships in 1957 , 1960 and 1962 . In 1956 and 1958 he was a bronze medalist.
In 1956 he was included in the USSR national team. He became world champion in 1958, 1962 and 1963. He participated in the Tokyo Olympics in 1964. But, not having time to completely restore his athletic form after an illness, he took 5th place.
After the Olympics, he finished his sports career and switched to coaching. He was the head coach of the Georgian SSR Greco-Roman wrestling team. Under his leadership, the team achieved a number of serious successes.
He graduated with honors from the first building faculty , and then from graduate school of the Georgian State Polytechnic Institute .
He was the director of construction industry enterprises. He headed the Main Directorate of Agricultural Water Supply of the Republic.
