Like his elder brother and predecessor of al-Muayyad Ahmed , Abu Talib Yahya was a prominent man of learning and a descendant of the Twelfth Imam Hassan bin Ali . He succeeded al-Muayyad Ahmed in the Imamate, formally as a “ caliph ”, in the territories of Zaydit in Persia , in the provinces of Gilan and Deylemen . [1] At that time there were two main Zaydit territories, namely the area south of the Caspian Sea and the Highlands of Yemen . For many years after the death of Imam al-Mahdi al-Hussein in 1013, a non-local imam was appointed in Yemen’s territory. In the historiography of Zaydit al-Muayyad Ahmed and Abu Talib Yahya are sometimes listed, although they never visited Yemen . [2]
