Biography
Born on January 20, 1924 in the village of Sinye Lipyagi (now the Nizhnedevitsky district of the Voronezh region ). After graduating from five grades of school, he worked on a collective farm .
In 1943 he was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . Since April of that year - on the fronts of World War II. By January 1945, Sergeant Ivan Plokhikh was a gunner in the 1050th Infantry Regiment of the 301st Infantry Division of the 9th Infantry Corps of the 5th Shock Army of the 1st Belorussian Front . Distinguished during the liberation of Poland [1] .
On January 15, 1945, as part of his calculation, crossed over Pilitsa in the area of the village of Palchev south-west of the city of Varka and took an active part in the battles for capturing and holding the bridgehead on its shore, destroying 4 tanks and 3 machine-gun points [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of February 27, 1945 for "exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the battle against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown at the same time" he was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 6814 [1] .
In 1947, the rank of foreman was demobilized. He lived and worked first in the city of Sinelnikovo, Dnipropetrovsk region of the Ukrainian SSR , then in the city of Satka, Chelyabinsk region .
He died suddenly on January 19, 1962 [1] .
He was also awarded a number of medals [1] .
