Biography
Peter Pleshkov was born on August 22, 1904 in the village of Sklyagino (now the Shabalinsky district of the Kirov region ). After graduating from seven classes of the school, he worked first in the executive committee, then in the city. In 1926 - 1927 he served in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1927 he graduated from the Vladivostok Infantry School [1] [2] [3] . Demobilized, he lived and worked in Siberia, in the Far East. He graduated from courses of consumer cooperation workers. In July 1941, Pleshkov was re-drafted into the army. Since July 1942 - on the fronts of World War II [4] .
By September 1943, Major Pyotr Pleshkov commanded the 225th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 78th Guards Rifle Division of the 7th Guards Army of the Steppe Front . He distinguished himself during the battle of the Dnieper . On the night of September 24–25 , 1943, Pleshkov’s regiment successfully crossed the Dnieper in the vicinity of the village of Domotkan, Verkhnedneprovsky District, Dnepropetrovsk Region, Ukrainian SSR, and seized a bridgehead on its western shore, after which it was held for three days. Pleshkov was among the first to cross the west coast and personally participated in the battles [4] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 26, 1943, for the “successful crossing of the Dnieper River, the solid consolidation and expansion of the bridgehead on the western bank of the Dnieper River” of the Guard, Major Pyotr Pleshkov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal [ 4] .
In 1946, with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel Guard, Pleshkov was sacked. He lived and worked first in Altai, then in Semipalatinsk . He died on February 1, 1961 [4] .
He was also awarded two orders of the Red Banner , orders of Alexander Nevsky , World War 1 degree and the Red Star , a number of medals [4] .
