History
The brigade was formed in Kustanai on the orders of the Supreme High Command of December 21, 1941.
The beginning of the way
Major Yakovlev Leonid Vasilievich was appointed commander of the brigade. At the beginning of World War II, Yakovlev L.V. commanded the 169th Infantry Regiment of the 86th Infantry Division, which participated in the battles for Leningrad. The brigade formed four rifle battalions, an artillery division, an anti-tank artillery division, a minbat, a reconnaissance company, a machine gun company, a combat engineer company, a medical company, an authorot, and a communications battalion.
The leadership of Kustanai allocated premises for the barracks, provided the necessary property and equipment. On March 5, 1942, combat training of personnel recruited from purely civilians began. On April 26, 1942, after completing military training in the city square (the area of the Palace of Pioneers), a rally was held dedicated to the brigade leaving for the front, at which workers of the city brigade were handed the banner of the regional executive committee with the order to convey it to victory.
On April 27-29, 1942, the 151st rifle departed from the city with six echelons at the disposal of the North-Western Front. On May 7, personnel were unloaded at Valdai Station. And on May 14, the brigade made a 180-kilometer march along blurred and battered roads and concentrated on the line of Pola-Borki-Berezovka.
On June 8, 1942, the 151st Brigade received its first baptism of fire. The enemy fired artillery fire on the area where the command post was located, the first dead and wounded appeared. The battles were both defensive and offensive. During the time the compound was located in the area of Lake. Fighting and conducting battles, fighters of the brigade crushed and destroyed 15 mortar and artillery batteries, 15 firing points, 8 vehicles, one headquarters and a warehouse with fuel, 1,200 enemy soldiers and officers were killed and wounded, two prisoners.
The delegation of Kustanayshchyna came with the location of the brigade with gifts for soldiers. Between the fighters and the workers of the rear area was a constant correspondence.
In February 1943, the brigade, reinforced by a light artillery brigade and one artillery regiment, was transferred to the reserve of the North-Western Front and, joining the battle formations, entrenched itself on the reached line, long occupying the defense north of Staraya Russa.
In September 1943, an order was received: on the basis of the 151st, 127th, 144th separate rifle brigades to form the 150th rifle division (3rd formation) . The formation of the division was carried out in positions in battle formations.
In 1966, the museum of the 151st separate rifle brigade was opened within the walls of the secondary school No. 4 of the city of Kustanai.
Decision No. 428 of the Executive Committee of the Kustanai City Council of People’s Deputies of November 3, 1987, "given the great search work on the combat exploits of the brigade during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 ..." was named after the 151st separate rifle brigade of secondary school No. 4 of the city of Kustanai .
