History
The Nito Shinkage-ryu school has its roots in Miyamoto Musashi . It was founded by a master named Terao Nobuyuki ( 寺 尾 求 馬 助 信 行 ), the second head of the Niten Ichi-ryu school .
In the second half of the 1800s, Matsumura Yoshitaka ( 松 村 義 孝 ), born in the Kumamoto samurai family, became the 3rd head of the school. He was known for his mastery of naginatajutsu techniques, as well as for the jujutsu of the Sekiguchi-ryu school .
Kusarigamajutsu techniques were developed and highlighted as the main curriculum of the school by the master Nakao Itiro ( Jap. 中 尾市 郎 ) during the Taisho era (1912-1926).
As of 2008, the school is part of the Nihon Kobudo Kyokai organization , and its 6th soke is Osamu Shimomura ( Japanese 島村 収 ) [1] .
