Honolulu Marathon (full name JAL Honolulu Marathon ) is an annual marathon held in Honolulu , Hawaii. It is one of the most massive marathons in the world, annually more than 20,000 people participate in it, in 2013 22,054 people finished. The distance complies with IAAF standards, world records can be recorded on it.

History

The marathon was first held on Sunday, December 16, 1973. On that day 167 runners aged 8 to 58 years started, 151 of them were able to finish the distance. The winner among men was a 24-year-old student at the University of Hawaii, Duncan MacDonald, with a score of 2: 27.34. Women won the 14-year-old schoolgirl Jun Chun with a score of 3: 25.31.
