Boris Kirillovich Migal ( May 5, 1927 , Poltava - September 12, 2010 , Kharkov ) - Soviet and Ukrainian historian , Doctor of Historical Sciences (1975), who taught at Kharkov University for more than 50 years.

Biography
Born May 5, 1927 in the Poltava region in the family of a history teacher. Two years later, the family moved to Krasnograd. In 1935, the Migaley family moved to Kharkov . During 1935 - 1941 - a student of secondary school No. 32 of Kharkov . By 1941, he graduated from seven classes. Since the beginning of World War II, together with other Kharkiv citizens, he worked on the construction of anti-tank ditches on the outskirts of the city. Fleeing from hunger, he moved with his mother to Poltava region , where he was subsequently arrested by the Nazis on suspicion of having links with Soviet partisans. Boris Kirillovich was lucky to stay alive. In 1944, he volunteered for the ranks of the Soviet Army . He was a cadet of a special secondary school of the Air Force of Kharkov . In 1944 he joined the ranks of the Komsomol . During 1945 - 1951 he served in the Baltic Fleet as a sailor of a torpedo boat brigade, then as a senior sailor of the cruiser Zheleznyakov. While serving in the Navy in 1950, he graduated from the 10th grade of school number 101 of working youth in the city of Leningrad . [1] .
In March 1951, after demobilization, he returned to Kharkov . In the same year he entered the first year of history at the Faculty of History of Kharkiv State University. O. M. Gorky . In 1954 he married Korsun Evelina Mikhailovna (then a student at the history faculty). In 1955, the daughter Natalia was born. In 1952 he joined the ranks of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union , was elected party organizer of the course. He graduated from the Faculty of History with honors in 1956 [1] .
After graduation, he remained at the Faculty of History as a senior laboratory assistant in the teaching room. In 1959 he entered graduate school at the Department of History of the CPSU, graduating from it, defended his dissertation in 1963 on the topic "Party Organization of the Poltava Region in the Struggle for the Restoration of Agriculture (1921-1925)"; supervisor prof. A.A. Voskresensky.
Since 1964 he worked at the Department of History of Ukraine, Faculty of History. In 1968 he was awarded the title of assistant professor . In 1975 he defended his doctoral dissertation "Implementation of agricultural policy in Ukraine in the recovery period (1921-1925)." In 1977 he became a professor. In 1989 - 1995 he held the position of head of the Department of History of Ukraine; since 1995 - professor of the department [1] .
He died on September 12, 2010, was buried in the cemetery No. 8 of Kharkov [2] .
Scientific activity
In the sphere of scientific activity of the scientist belonged to the agrarian policy of the Soviet government in relation to individual peasant farms in Ukraine in the pre-collective farm period, the history of Kharkov and Kharkov National University. V. N. Karazin during the Great Patriotic War . For more than 30 years he was a member of the dissertation council for the defense of doctoral dissertations, executive secretary of faculty and inter-university scientific collections, editor-in-chief of a series of archeographic collections “My Land, Slobozhanshchina”, a member of the editorial board of the Bulletin of Kharkov University (“History” series), and “Sumy Historian” -archival magazine ”, collections of“ Rehabilitated by History ”,“ Actual Issues of Russian and World History ”.
Boris Kirillovich is the author of more than 100 scientific papers, 12 curricula of special courses and guidelines. Over the years of scientific teaching, he prepared 4 candidates of sciences.
Rewards
For participation in the Great Patriotic War, for fruitful scientific, pedagogical and social activities, he was awarded 10 medals of the USSR and Ukraine, the badge “Excellence in Higher Education of the USSR”, received the title of “Honored Professor of Kharkov National University”, was awarded many times with gratitude, diplomas and awards [1] .
Memory
In 2013, students and colleagues B.K. Migal and Yu. I. Zhuravsky founded personalized awards that encourage students and graduate students of the Faculty of History of the V.N.
By the 85th anniversary of B.K. Migal, his graduate students had prepared a collection of memoirs and documents about him [3] .
