Jackson County is located in the United States , Ohio . As of 2000 , the population was 32,641. It was founded on March 1 , 1816 , got its name in honor of the seventh president of the United States, Andrew Jackson .

According to the United States Census Bureau , the county’s total area is 1,092.0 km², of which 1,089.0 km² is land and 3 km² or 0.29% are water bodies.

According to the 2000 census [1] , 32,641 residents of 12,619 households and 9,136 families live in the okrug. The population density is 30 people per km². There are 13 909 residential buildings in the district, with a building density of 13 buildings per km². Racial composition of the population: white - 97.89%, African - Americans - 0.59%, Native Americans ( Indians ) - 0.34%, Asians - 0.17%, Hawaiians - 0.02%, representatives of other races - 0.16 %, representatives of two or more races - 0.82%. Hispanics accounted for 0.60% of the population, regardless of race.
Out of the total number of households, 34.50% are children under the age of 18, 55.40% of households are married couples living together, 12.00% of households are single women without a spouse, 27.60% of households households are not related to families, 24.00% of households consist of one person, 10.50% of households consist of elderly people (65 years and older), living alone. The average household size is 2.55 and the average family size is 3.00.
The age composition of the district: 26.00% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 28.70% from 25 to 44, 23.0% from 45 to 64, and 13.60% from 65 and older. The average age of a resident of the district is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 93.2 males. For every 100 females over 18 years of age, 89.9 are males.
The average household income in the district was $ 30,661 , and for a family $ 36,022. The average earnings of a man was $ 30,651 versus $ 21,546 for a woman. The per capita income was $ 14,789. About 13.60% of families and 16.5% of the total population were below the poverty line , including 20.3% of youth (those who were not yet 18 years old) and 16.1% of those who were already over 65 years old.
