Jackson County is located in the United States , Indiana . As of 2010 , the population was 42,376 people. It was founded on January 1 , 1816 , got its name in honor of the seventh president of the United States, Andrew Jackson .

According to the 2000 census [1] , 41,335 residents of 16,052 households and 11,573 families live in the okrug. The population density is 31 people per km ². There are 17 137 residential buildings in the district, with a building density of 13 buildings per km ². Racial composition of the population: white - 96.13%, African - Americans - 0.55%, Native Americans ( Indians ) - 0.24%, Asians - 0.78%, Hawaiians - 0.06%, representatives of other races - 1.54 %, representatives of two or more races - 0.70%. Hispanics made up 2.69% of the population, regardless of race .
Of the total number of households , 33.70% are children under the age of 18, 58.10% of households are married couples living together, 9.90% of households are single women without a spouse, 27.90% of households households are not related to families , 23.50% of households consist of one person, 10.10% of households consist of elderly people (65 years and older) living alone. The average household size is 2.54 people and the average family size is 2.98 people.
