Biography
Georgy Pinyaev was born in 1919 in Moscow . He graduated from nine classes of the school. In 1937, Pinyaev was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. He graduated from the tank school. He participated in the battles of the Soviet-Finnish war, being the commander of a tank platoon of the 9th separate tank battalion of the 13th light tank brigade of the 7th army of the North-Western Front [1] .
In February 1940, Pinyaev's platoon, being in the Finnish rear, inflicted heavy losses on the enemy in military equipment and manpower. Having made a passage in the gouges during reconnaissance in battle , the platoon successfully defeated the Finnish troops at the Kamyarya station, after which it delivered important intelligence to the command. February 21, 1940 Pinyaev died in battle. He was buried in a mass grave in the village of Gavrilovo, Vyborgsky District, Leningrad Region [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 21, 1940, for “exemplary performance of command missions on the front against the Finnish White Guard and courage and heroism shown at the same time”, Lieutenant Georgy Pinyaev was posthumously awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union . He was also posthumously awarded the Order of Lenin [1] .
