History
The Order of Pahlavi was established in 1926 by the Shahinshah of Iran Reza Pahlavi as the highest award of the state. Intended for delivery to monarchs, princes of royal blood, heads of foreign states. The image of the badge of the order on the chain was placed in a large state emblem . After the establishment, the signs of the order underwent minor changes. Two variations of the sign are known.
After the 1979 Iranian revolution , along with other monarchical awards, the Pahlavi order was abolished. Currently, the order is preserved as a Pahlavi dynastic award.
Degrees
The Order of Pahlavi had two degrees:
- Badge on the order chain with a chest star
- Badge on the shoulder strap with a chest star
Description
The star of the order is golden, contains the image of the Damavand mountain peak with the rising sun above it in a round medallion with a white border, on which there are two laurel branches of green enamel on the sides, between them at the top is the Arabic inscription “Pahlavi”, below is the year of accession of the founder of the Pahlavi dynasty according to the Muslim calendar "1304" (that is, 1925). On four sides of the medallion is the Pahlavi crown , forming a cross. There are five golden rays between the crowns, the middle of which is covered with blue enamel.
The badge of the order is similar to a star and is attached to the order chain, consisting of golden links in the form of an eight and rings coated with blue enamel.
The badge of the order on the ribbon differs from the badge on the chain by the absence of rays between the crowns replaced by elements of the order chain: visible eights halves intertwined with a ring coated with blue enamel.
The ribbon of the order is dark blue with gold stripes at the edges.
