Biography

Denis Garazh was born on May 15, 1987 in the city of Atbasar of the Akmola region of the Kazakh SSR , but from childhood he lived in the Belarusian city of Mazyr . He began to actively engage in rowing in the local youth sports school "Pearl of Polesie", was trained under the guidance of coach Victor Savchenko. Later he joined the Dynamo sports society, trained with such specialists as R.I. Minadarov, V.A. Rybak and V.V. Vedekhin [1] .

He achieved his first serious success in 2009, when he first joined the main team of the national team of Belarus, made his victorious debut at the World Cup, won two gold medals at the World Championships in Canadian Dartmouth - among single canoes at 500 meters and among fours at 1000 meters. I brought another gold medal from the European Championships in German Brandenburg, where I overcame all my rivals at a half-kilometer distance. In 2010, at the World Championships in Polish, Poznan repeated the achievement of the previous season, received gold awards in the C-1 500 m and C-4 1000 m disciplines, moreover, achieved considerable success at the European Championship in Spanish Trazon, again became the champion among singles half a kilometer distance and got silver in the canoe-four. At the end of the season he was awarded the honorary title “ Honored Master of Sports of the Republic of Belarus ” [2] .

In the season of 2011, despite the injury and a long recovery period, he continued his series of triumphant performances, in particular, at the world championship in the Hungarian Szeged won the 1000 meters race among the four-seater crews and was second among single-seater canoes. At the European Championships in Serbian Belgrade, however, he was able to win only the bronze medal of the single standings. Thanks to a series of successful performances, he won the right to defend the honor of the country at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London . Since his crown disciplines were excluded from the Olympic program, he was forced to compete in the two-meter sprint distance. He managed to get into the final stage, but in the decisive race he took only fifth place. “Given that my profile distance was until recently considered 500-meter, the current result in the 200-meter sprint can be considered worthy” [3] .

After the Olympics, the Garage remained in the main team of the Belarusian national team and continued to take part in major international competitions. So, in 2013, he won a silver medal at the World Championships in German Duisburg - with a canoe-four for a kilometer distance. At the European Championship in the Portuguese city of Montemor-u-Velu, he was one of the winners in both his disciplines, won silver among singles in the 500 meters race and took gold among the fours in the 1000 meters race.

Now lives and trains in Minsk . He has a higher education, in 2010 he graduated from Mozyr State Pedagogical University named after IP Shamyakin , where he studied at the Faculty of Physical Culture [4] .
