Biography
Sergey Petyalin was born on October 4, 1925 in the village of Chigareva (now the Aromashevsky district of the Tyumen region ). After finishing seven classes of the school he worked on a collective farm . In 1943, Petyalin was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Since December of the same year - on the fronts of World War II [1] .
By June 1944, Corporal Sergei Petyalin was a scout for the 210th Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Infantry Division of the 3rd Army of the 1st Belorussian Front . He distinguished himself during the liberation of the Mogilev region of the Byelorussian SSR . On June 30, 1944, in a battle near the village of Oktyabr, Osipovichsky District, Petyalin personally killed 22 enemy soldiers and officers. Once surrounded and left without ammunition, Petyalin blew himself up with a grenade along with a group of enemy soldiers. He was buried in the village of Yelizovo in the Osipovichsky district of the Mogilev region of Belarus [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated March 24, 1945, Corporal Sergei Petalin was posthumously awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union . He was also awarded the Orders of Lenin and Glory of the 3rd degree [1] .
A street was named in honor of Petyalin and an obelisk was erected in his native village [1] .
