“Mount Karatau” ( Ukrainian: “Mount Karatau” , Crimean-Tat. “Qaratav dağı”, “Karatav dagy” ) is a botanical nature monument of national importance located in the Crimean Mountains on the territory of the Alushta City Council ( Crimea ). Area - 100 ha. Land user - Alushta State Forestry .

History
The natural monument was created on March 30, 1981 by the Decree of the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR of March 30, 81 No. 145, by reorganizing the natural monument of local importance, founded in 1960 [2] .
Description
It is located in the Crimean mountains directly southwest of the Karabi-Yail ridge in the Solnechnogorsk forestry district quarter 75. The height of Mount Karatau is 1220.0 m. Near the northern slope of the mountain is a fresh small lake Karatau-gol .
The nearest settlement is the village of Generalskoe , the city is Alushta .
Nature
“Karatau Mountain” is one of the most significant beech forest massifs on Karabi-Yail, where trees are dominated by 100-200 years old with an average height of about 15-18 meters. Yew berry ( Táxus baccáta ) is found.
