The district was formed on October 4, 1924 as part of the Odessa district under the name of Manheim District . As of October 1, 1925, the population was 19 389 people, the area was 504 square meters. versts, the number of village councils - 12.

In 1930, in connection with the liquidation of the Odessa district, the district became directly subordinate to the Ukrainian SSR.

In order to improve the administrative-territorial structure of the regions and bring the village council and collective farms closer to the district center, in 1935 the October Village Council was transferred to Razdelnyansky district.
