In 1941 he was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army . He was trained in the armored regiment. He fought on the Baltic front.

On July 27, 1944, the units of the 9th Guards Mechanized Brigade as part of other formations of our troops liberated the Lithuanian city of Siauliai.
