Püha church ( Est. Püha kirik ) is a church located in Estonia , on the island of Saaremaa , in the village of Püha . Full name - Church of St. Jacob ( Est. Püha Jakobi kirik ). Currently belongs to the Lutheran parish, which is part of the Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church . It is one of the oldest working churches in Saaremaa. [one]

History
The church was built in the second half of the 13th century. In the 14th century, a temporary wooden building was replaced by a stone building. In 1576, during the Livonian War , the church was burned by Ivan the Terrible . Restored in 1603. [2]
In 2014, the Department for the Protection of Antiquities allocated 100,000 euros for the restoration of the church. [3]
