Biography
Initially, he studied music with his father, also a musician-musician. From about the age of 15, that is, from 1898, he began to act as a komuzist with Kyrgyz folk songs, gaining fame for the talented tunes of the Daryikan and Kalmyk Dance tunes. In 1916, he participated in a popular uprising, connected with the tsarist government’s call on the inhabitants of Central Asia to the front of the First World War as builders of trenches; during the Civil War, he participated in a revolutionary movement on the side of the Reds. In 1928, he was noticed by the Soviet Kyrgyz poet and politician Kasym Tynystanov, and at the request of the latter, the folklorist A. Zataevich recorded about 250 melodies for komuz from Orozov.
In 1932 he moved to Frunze and until 1936 he worked as an actor of the Kyrgyz Theater in Frunze, in 1935 he received the title of People's Artist of the Kyrgyz SSR. Since 1936 he became a soloist in the orchestra of folk instruments of the Kyrgyz Philharmonic. In 1939 he received the prize of the All-Union Review of Folk Instruments in Moscow and became a member of the Union of Composers of the USSR. In 1940-1941 he attended courses of melodic composers in Moscow. During the Great Patriotic War he toured on collective farms and state farms of Central Asia. From 1958 to 1960 he taught at the Frunze College of Music, was also a deputy of the Supreme Council of the Kyrgyz SSR of the 3rd convocation.
Creativity
His most famous pre-revolutionary works are the shepherds “Shepherd’s pipe”, “Soul wound”, “Sorrows”, which praise the beauties of nature and the exploits of antiquity, as well as criticize the plight of the people under royal authority. The more famous traditional kyui of his authorship are Kambarkan, Kerbez, Botu. Of the most significant cuits written by Orozov in the Soviet era, “Kambarkan collective farm,” “Equality,” and “Life.” According to the recollections of eyewitnesses, its performance was distinguished by severity and seriousness, the classical style of the game, and a distinctive feature was voice recognition in two- and three-voice sounds.

Memory
After his death on February 25, 1961, the State Orchestra of Folk Instruments was named after him.
The memory of Karamoldo Orozov is still preserved in Kyrgyzstan: for example, in the article dedicated to the 130th anniversary of his birth, he was called the “symbol of folk music” [1] .
