Biography

Pavel Petikin was born on February 16, 1913 in Kherson . After graduating from the nine grades of the school and the factory apprenticeship school, he worked in factories. In 1935 - 1939 he served in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. In 1941, Petikin was re-drafted into the army. In 1942 he graduated from the Rostov Artillery School. Since October of the same year - on the fronts of World War II [1] .

By October 1943, Guards Senior Lieutenant Pavel Petikin commanded the battery of the 150th Guards Artillery Regiment of the 78th Guards Rifle Division of the 7th Guards Army of the Steppe Front . He distinguished himself during the battle of the Dnieper . On October 5, 1943, in a battle near the village of Borodaevka, Verkhnedneprovsky District, Dnipropetrovsk Region, Ukrainian SSR, Petikin personally destroyed 2 tanks and 1 armored car. At the critical moment of the battle, he raised his comrades to attack, dropping the enemy infantry [1] .

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 26, 1943, Senior Lieutenant Pavel Petikin was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the awarding of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [1] .

In 1944, Petikin was sacked. He lived and worked in Rostov-on-Don [1] . He died on December 22, 1999, was buried in the Northern cemetery of Rostov-on-Don.

He was also awarded the orders of World War 1 degree and the Red Star , a number of medals [1] .
