Distribution
Distribution countries: Benin , Botswana , Burkina Faso , Democratic Republic of the Congo , Djibouti , Egypt , Ethiopia , Gambia , Ghana , Guinea-Bissau , India , Iran , Israel , Kenya , Mali , Mauritania , Niger , Nigeria , Oman , Pakistan , Saudi Arabia , Senegal , Somalia , Sudan , Tanzania , Togo , Uganda , Zimbabwe , Yemen . Not found at altitudes of more than 200 m above sea level. Habitats in the entire range are associated with open woodlands, along rivers in the wooded savannah. Requires shelter in rocks or stone buildings during the day. Creates settlements in small and large colonies from a few to a thousand individuals. It feeds on moles and bugs.
Threats to the species and protection
Violation of recreational areas is a threat to the species. It is found in many protected areas.
