Maria Duñas Vinuesa ( Spanish: María Dueñas Vinuesa ; born 1964 , Puertollano ) is a Spanish writer. A teacher of English and literature at the University of Murcia , she also taught at several North American universities, and participated in several educational, cultural, and publishing projects. In 2009, she published her first novel, the espionage saga " Threads of Fate " ( Spanish: El tiempo entre costuras ), which soon became a bestseller in Spain and was translated into more than two dozen languages of the world. For this novel, Duenhas was awarded several literary prizes, including the Cartagena Prize for the historical novel. In 2013, the novel was filmed on television by Antena 3 . In 2012, Duenhas published her second novel, The Mission “Oblivion” ( Spanish: Misión Olvido ), which also received critical acclaim.
