Short description
oneJan 27  Mi-8
USSR-25557
Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District , Krasnoselkup2/8When taking off in conditions of insufficient visibility, the crew lost spatial orientation and allowed an unintentional decrease in the helicopter. At a distance of 120-140 m from the start point of take-off, the car collided with the ground and collapsed. 2 passengers died, other passengers and crew were injured of varying severity [1] .
2Jan 31  Mi-8
USSR-22207
Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug , Nizhnevartovsk District , Agan2/17A crew error during take-off due to improper actions of which during take-off the helicopter raised a snow whirlwind and insufficient visibility conditions were created. The PIC piloting the car lost its spatial orientation and allowed a decrease in the helicopter, which 60 meters from the landing site hit the main landing gear against a snowy parapet . FAC, believing that the strike was dealt by the front struts, sharply gave the handle β€œto itself”, as a result of which the rotor blades chopped off the tail beam deformed from the load. The car, collapsing, fell to the ground and after a short time caught fire. Those on board were evacuated, with the exception of two passengers, sandwiched by structural elements. One of them managed to be pulled out from under the rubble, but he died in the hospital. The second died in a burning helicopter [2] .
3Apr 13  Mi-8
USSR-22549
Sakhalin Region , Zonalnoe Airport0/4When landing after completing a training flight, the crew allowed a high vertical speed of descent. The car landed roughly and collapsed, the crew received injuries of varying severity [3] .
fourApr 24  Mi-8
USSR-25968
NAO , near Naryan-Mar airport6/6Before landing, when hovering over the site at an altitude of 10-20 m, sharp turns of the tail boom to the right and left began, then the helicopter began to rotate clockwise with increasing speed. The car fell to the port side and collapsed. One passenger and three crew members were killed on impact. The co-pilot and another passenger were taken to hospital in serious condition, where both died on the same day. A possible cause of the disaster was the loss of directional control of the helicopter while hanging due to a failure in the hydraulic system, under which the crew could not cope with the piloting. The commission also expressed opinions about the error during piloting [4] .
five30 June  Mi-8
USSR-25785
Ukrainian SSR , Crimean region , Zavodskoye aerodrome area0/6The crew took off for inspection of farmland without making sure that the required amount of fuel was on board. 24 minutes after take-off as a result of the development of fuel, both engines stopped. During an emergency landing, the helicopter received significant damage [5] .
6July 10th  Mi-8
USSR-25761
Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug , Megion Heliport -North6/21After separation from the landing site and control hovering despite a significant overload (by 912 kg due to the fact that the flight customer provided incorrect data and the crew did not control the loading), the FAC did not interrupt take-off as required by the RLE , but attempted to gain altitude. As a result, during acceleration, the rotor speed fell, the car fell to the ground and collapsed on fire. KBC and three passengers died. Two more passengers died in the hospital a few days later [6] .
7July 19  Mi-8
USSR-25547
Tomsk Region , Strezhevoy Airport3/3Right after takeoff, a fire of the right engine started, the helicopter lost control and fell into the taiga 500 m from the runway . The cause of the fire was burnout of the nozzle in the combustion chamber of the engine [7] .

USSR-25688
Uzbek SSR , Tashkent region , 27.5 km east of Pskem6/7When approaching the landing site, located on the crest of the spur of the Pskem Range , the helicopter fell into a downward flow of air. The crew immediately reacted by switching the engines to takeoff mode and increasing the pitch , but the collision could not be avoided. The car twice hit the landing gear on the ground and eventually collapsing, rolled down the slope of the ridge. The flight mechanic was thrown from the helicopter into the open doorway of the front door, the remaining crew members and passengers died [9] .
tenAug 25  Mi-8T
275
Kunar Province , Asmar0 / n.d.Asmara’s garrison went over to the side of anti-government forces and captured a flown DRA Air Force helicopter. The crew managed to bribe the guards and escape, and the car was pumped to the outskirts of the village and disguised. In March 1980, government forces drove the Mujahideen from Asmara and found this helicopter, but it was impossible to evacuate it. Then a group of technicians removed all the scarce aggregates from him, and the rest was thrown in place [8] .

12Sep 7  Mi-8
USSR-22225
Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District , Yamal District , 160 km northwest of Cape Kamenny1/5When landing on a site selected from the air, the crew was not convinced of the sufficient density of the soil, as a result of which the right landing gear fell into the ground. The FAC, instead of urgently turning off the engines, tried to take off. Subsequently, rotating at a high angular speed, the helicopter caught the rotor blades on the ground, capsized on the starboard side and collapsed. The flight engineer, trying to run away from the tipping machine, fell into the rotor rotation zone and died. The remaining crew members and the passenger received minor injuries [10] .

15the 13th of November  Mi-8T
USSR-93925
Kuibyshev region , Bezymyanka airfield1/4When performing a training flight at an altitude of 500-600 m, the helicopter entered the clouds, in which severe icing of the aircraft began. Belatedly, the crew turned on the de-icing system (PIC), the ice entered the air intakes of both engines, which led to their self-shutdown. In the area of the fourth reversal in the rotor autorotation mode, the crew made a rough landing in the ravine. The helicopter capsized on board and collapsed. The inspector, the senior pilot inspector, died [12] .
