The list of lost Mi- 8s of all modifications (including Mi-9, -14 , -17, -18 , -19, -171 and -172) is compiled from open sources and takes into account only aviation accidents or external forces that led to the loss helicopter or its cancellation due to damage.
The list is not complete and not final.

The PIC piloting the car lost its spatial orientation and allowed a decrease in the helicopter, which 60 meters from the landing site hit the main landing gear against a snowy parapet . FAC, believing that the strike was dealt by the front struts, sharply gave the handle βto itselfβ, as a result of which the rotor blades chopped off the tail beam deformed from the load. The car, collapsing, fell to the ground and after a short time caught fire. Those on board were evacuated, with the exception of two passengers, sandwiched by structural elements. One of them managed to be pulled out from under the rubble, but he died in the hospital. The second died in a burning helicopter [2] . |

The crew immediately reacted by switching the engines to takeoff mode and increasing the pitch , but the collision could not be avoided. The car twice hit the landing gear on the ground and eventually collapsing, rolled down the slope of the ridge. The flight mechanic was thrown from the helicopter into the open doorway of the front door, the remaining crew members and passengers died [9] . |
