History
For the first time the song “ZUDWA” was performed by the group “Chimera” in the Tamtam club. Also performed at a concert in Germany on April 26, 1996 . This entry is present on the live album Live In Lola Club .
The meaning and origin of the word “ZUDWA” is still unclear. Ilya Chert , answering the fans' question “what is ZUDWA?”, Expressed the opinion that this is “a fairy-tale creature invented by the vocalist of the group Chimera” [3] . There is also an opinion that Edward invented him himself as an abbreviation of the “model 2 charger”, allegedly found by him on the shores of Lake Kuyto , near which he spent his childhood [4] , while living in the village of Kalevala ( Karelia ).
- What is “ZUDWA”, after all?
- ... Whewf ... "ZUDWA" is ... this is "ZUDWA"! Edik tried to answer this question in one of the last interviews that we still had recorded on video, and he also failed. But for me, this is a song that, during the recording of this album, absolutely precisely defines this moment in time.
- From the dialogue between Gennady Bachinsky and Vsevolod Gakkel [5]
The editors of FUZZ found in the composition signs of the rhythmic and melodic structure of the cult song “ Bela Lugosi's Dead ” by the group “ Bauhaus ” [6] .
Culture Reflection
The “ Pilot ” band performed the song “ZUDWA” at their concerts. The studio version of this composition is present on their album " Seasons ". The same song performed by the Pilot group was included in the Total Jazz tribute album dedicated to the Khimera group.
Ever since the first performance of this song in Tam-Tam, I was fascinated by it, and this word fascinated me.
- Vsevolod Gakkel about the song "ZUDWA" [1]
Vsevolod Gakkel, Gennady Bachinsky, Pigs in Space and the “ Last Tanks in Paris ” also took part in the tribute show.
The song is cited in several poems Lyokhi Nikonov . In particular, in the poem dedicated to Edward Starkov, "February 98" from the trilogy "Zero" [7] .
