Many churches in Bosnia and Herzegovina did not have church books, which is why many churches did not serve a liturgy. Metropolitan George solved this problem - in Sarajevo, Russian church books were reprinted at public expense.
Unlike his predecessor, Metropolitan Georgy tried not to aggravate relations with the Austro-Hungarian authorities with demands to soften their policy towards Orthodox Serbs . He was mainly engaged in raising the level of spiritual education. At this time, the Orthodox youth of the diocese, as a rule, studied in more accessible Catholic schools, where students were persuaded to convert to Catholicism or union. To counter this, Metropolitan Georgy opened schools at monasteries at his own expense, and established several funds to finance Serbian schools.
