Lithium gallate is a chemical compound, a salt of lithium and gallic acid with the formula C ₆ H ₂ (OH) ₃ COOLi, colorless (white) crystals, it dissolves in water.

Hydrolysis of tannin followed by extraction of gallic acid with lithium hydroxide .

Addition of lithium methylate to a solution of gallic acid in methanol in a stream of hydrogen :
